A Day in the Life 78
A Day in the Life…
Back in the New Year (can you believe it is already 2019!), and on our 78th post! How crazy! Now that we are have arrived in the newness of January, I was thinking of starting a series over the next few months on different counter top materials, pros and cons, etc. However, prior to doing so, I wanted to get your feedback to see if that was a topic you all would be interested in?!
While you are thinking about it, let’s switch gears a bit. I came across this article the other day, and really liked the premise of it, so I wanted to share some of the details. It was from one of the furniture suppliers we love to use (insert shameless plug for CB2 here, LOL!), and I thought it was a great way to kick off 2019. Many of us go through the song and dance of coming up with a New Year’s resolution every year…whether it’s working out, eating better, etc., however, being that we are designers, we would like to suggest an alternative. What about a design resolution?
This particular article was proposing a “New Room Resolution” with 5 design goals, and who doesn’t love that! Many of you have a room that you have been wanted to spruce up, so why not take that on this year! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a remodel…what about a refresh? New paint, maybe add (or remove) drapes, find a new, fun area rug, buy some new furniture…you get the idea. What are these 5 goals, you may ask? Well, here it goes:
- Invest in a statement piece (the sofa you have always wanted, or piece of art).
- Figure out the finishing touches (décor items, meaningful pieces from travel, etc.).
- Commit to a color (could be an accent chair or wall color).
- Mix old and new (as we have talked about before, marrying multiple styles helps add warmth to a space!).
- Sort out the storage situation (getting organized is never a bad thing!).
These were all so good that I think they speak for themselves (thank you CB2)! What do you guys think? What would your goals be? Would you keep all or change some of the 5 above?
