Mark Dalton’s interior design career started in high end residential markets from Martha’s Vinyard to Atlanta.  In 1986 Mark’s national reputation made him an in demand designer in the Sarasota region, where he’s been ever since.

Even though Mark spent years designing homes where price was no object, he’s always been cost consious.  Looking for deals and finding better ways to do more for less is what made Mark’s reputation in the design world.  No matter how much money you may have, everyone likes a bargain.

Mark’s biggest career challenge came when he bought an old 1954 downtown Sarasota ranch home. Armed with a modest budget of $50,000, he set out to completely renovate and redesign his new place with all of the same standards he uses in his wealthy client’s homes. Just 28 days later, Mark Dalton moved into his very own newly remodeled home. He even came in $11,000 UNDER budget!

That’s how Chic on the Cheap began. Mark’s mission for his own affordable project turned into his passion: To offer affordable, yet sophisticated interior design for any budget. He calls his personal home his “Living Showroom” and invites clients to visit his house to get ideas and inspiration for affordable home design.
